Winter 2020 Cohort Graduates

Althea

Althea came to PIVOT seeking employment support due to her background.  She showed commitment to her participation in the program and demonstrated a strong capacity to be a team player as well as leadership potential. Althea plans to attend college at Morgan State in the Fall of 2020, in addition to considering other part-time job offers.

Carolyn

Carolyn came to PIVOT as a referral from one of our partners, Nilsson House. She was a thoughtful and introspective participant, often communicating how she was using what she learned in our program with her housemates. Her daily contribution to the Winter 2020 Cohort was to organize our clothing closet, which proved a daunting challenge given the continuous donations. Nevertheless, she was committed to her task, performed it well. Her career goal is to work with animals, and has applications pending with BARCS, Baltimore Zoo, and the SPCA.

Chiquetta

Chiquetta’s background was preventing her from the career she envisioned for herself. She came to PIVOT seeking an opportunity to better herself and gain support in her job search. Always on time for class, she consistently demonstrated a commitment to her self-development. Since graduating from PIVOT, Chiquetta earned her CPR certification and received an offer from John's Hopkins "On The Job Training " program where she will be starting in May, 2020.

Crystal

Crystal, a cancer survivor, was the matriarch of the group bringing seasoned life experience to PIVOT. An active member of the community, she always was ready to offer resources to help support the other women and their families. After graduating from PIVOT, Crystal accepted a job offer as a home healthcare provider as well as part-time work with the Census 2020, and Election 2020.

Francia

Francia came to PIVOT seeking employment support after facing long term unemployment. She was a consistent presence in the group often sharing how what she was learning was assisting her with managing her personal challenges. Since graduating from PIVOT, Francia received an offer from John's Hopkins "On The Job Training " program where she will be starting in May, 2020. Her long-term career goal is to be a Peer Recovery Specialist.

Latrea

Latrea was referred from KRA, another PIVOT partner. She was discouraged that her background was keeping her from career-focused employment, and she wanted more for herself and her family. She demonstrated a commitment to her personal growth and development, and often shared how she applied what she was learning in the group in her life. Since graduating from PIVOT, Latrea received an offer from John's Hopkins "On The Job Training " program where she will be starting in May, 2020.
