Program Structure

PIVOT cohort participants attend a 9-week program — Monday through Friday — followed by personal coaching and lifelong support through PIVOT’s alumni groups.

At the completion of the program, PIVOT graduates move on to one of three tracks: Direct Employment, Technical Career Training, or Continuing Education.

Each woman is different, and we do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. PIVOT works with each individual based on her interests and past experience to create a personalized plan to meet her goals.

What the Program Includes

  • CAREER READINESS & JOB PLACEMENT

We equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and referrals they need to find a meaningful job — and career. With training in resume writing, networking, and interviewing, our cohort participants master the skills to earn their place in today’s workforce.

  • FINANCIAL & TECHNOLOGY LITERACY

Today, it’s difficult to thrive without a solid foundation and knowledge of personal finance and everyday technology. Our cohorts receive training in essential skills like budgeting, saving, and investing, as well as personal computing, word processing, and best practices for internet usage.

  • GROUP THERAPY

When determined women come together, nothing’s impossible. Our group therapy sessions allow our participants to address their trauma, challenges, and fears through guided exercises in a psychologically safe space. Our goal is to create a circle of trust and emotional connection to help each woman unleash her inner “rockstar.”

  • HEALTH & WELLNESS CARE

A healthy mind and body are essential to a successful, sustainable reentry. Our cohorts participate in a range of holistic exercises and activities to support their well-being, including breathwork, dance therapy, the use of essential oils, yoga, art therapy, and nutrition education.

  • HOUSING RESOURCES

One in four women becomes homeless after being released from prison. Having access to a safe, supportive place to live has a huge impact on successful reentry. We’re continually adding resources and partners to the PIVOT community to locate and secure housing for participants and their immediate families.

  • INTENSIVE PERSONAL COACHING

We work with each participant one-on-one to address personal challenges they face and identify opportunities for self-improvement. This includes creating a comprehensive, customized plan to meet her goals.

  • LIFE SKILLS TRAINING

Our counselors and coaches work with participants to develop essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. These soft skills help them navigate the challenges of daily life, the workplace, and relationships.

  • MENTORSHIP & ALUMNAE SUPPORT

At the completion of the program, participants move on to one of three tracks: Direct Employment, Technical Career Training, or Continuing Education. We provide them with personal coaching and life-long support through PIVOT’s alumnae groups. We also connect them to a network of advocates, mentors, and continuing services to support life after graduation.
